Chimera (2026) is a sound sculpture. The proposal was designed for the Exhibition Alphonse Layaz, Rencontres‘ at the Espace Graffenried, in Aigle.

The exhibition course is divided into several themes which focus in turn on the privileged subjects of Alphonse Layaz, focused mainly on the female figure: the scenes of life between tenderness and complicity, the repetition of patterns and shapes, the vine and the wine as well as the animals, represented in the last room. A contemporary intervention by Rachel Morend is part of this section in the form of a mechanical and sound installation, a Chimera Hybrid that dialogues with the bestiary of Layaz.

Chimera is a mixture of cow, pig, horse, donkey, hen and dog. the public can activate each animal independently and part of the body moves or a sound comes out of the sculpture. The work takes up the forms and dynamics of the animals represented in the bestiary of Alphonse Layaz.
