“There you see me, there you see me more. You see me, you don’t see me anymore, you see me a little, you don’t see me anymore, you see me“.
1…2…3…SOLEIL ! is a sound installation that plays with the light emitted by revolving beacons.
It tells the story of a soundtrack that wants to be heard, lights that want to be seen, and motors that never stop turning.
The original sound file is a classic performed by Paul Misraki: Tout va très bien, Madame la Marquise.
Here, however, the piece is broken down. Each revolving beacon plays a fragment of the music and influences the effect of fragments played by the others. The Arduino program runs in a loop, switching the beacons on and off at random, without any logic. The composition thus becomes completely unstable and elusive, as the repeated “tout va très bien”s accumulate into a grating, chaotic atmosphere.
A work of urgency, humour and seriousness, presented as part of dialog#effetPapillon, a mini-festival on the politics of improvisation, held on 3, 4 and 5 April 2025 at Espace Parallèle in Saint-Maurice.
