Decay

decay is a sound installation. The proposal was designed for the Kunsttank, space ofExhibition in a gondola in Simplondorf.

A forged doorbell becomes a pot. Three hand-forged fondue forks turn slowly, as the bread overflows, changes, and rots. The installation summons old Switzerland, that of bells, cheese and well-established gestures. Here, everything seems familiar — and yet everything changes. The symbol of sharing is meaningless, the warmth of the hearth turns into a mechanical ritual. Between folklore and corrosion, the work replays the symbols of conviviality and national identity. The gesture of sharing becomes mechanical, the tradition freezes in an absurd loop. Under the familiar surface of metal and bread, something breaks down — gently, like an old habit that we continue by reflex, an old Swiss that we love.
